The only thing that we don’t have an endless supply of is time. One of my bugbears is the many time wasters that pop into my life on a regular basis. Here is a list of the top ten time wasters and some tips on how to avoid them from the wisdom of Thomas J Leonard and his book Working Wisdom

  1. You allow yourself to be interrupted.

This may be due to such things as cold calls, unscheduled visitors, or unplanned telephone socialising.

  2. You surround yourself with junk.

Most people have too much junk in their lives – junk email, junk mail, junk meetings, or junk around them.  Clear out some of the junk and you’ll clear up a lot of your time.

  3. Essential information is poorly organised or non-existent.

If you can’t lay your hands on the essential facts at a moment’s notice, you waste time looking for it.

  4. You’re burdened with excessive red tape, regulations and paperwork.

Delegate what you can’t eliminate, but eliminate everything you can.
