The only thing that we don’t have an endless supply of is time. One of my bugbears is the many time wasters that pop into my life on a regular basis. Here is a list of the top ten time wasters and some tips on how to avoid them from the wisdom of Thomas J Leonard and his book Working Wisdom
-
You allow yourself to be interrupted.
This may be due to such things as cold calls, unscheduled visitors, or unplanned telephone socialising.
-
You surround yourself with junk.
Most people have too much junk in their lives – junk email, junk mail, junk meetings, or junk around them. Clear out some of the junk and you’ll clear up a lot of your time.
-
Essential information is poorly organised or non-existent.
If you can’t lay your hands on the essential facts at a moment’s notice, you waste time looking for it.
-
You’re burdened with excessive red tape, regulations and paperwork.
Delegate what you can’t eliminate, but eliminate everything you can.
